I recently used Beat ID to track one of my assets and discovered my beat is being used by a popular podcast in a few of their episodes as the opening music but they never bought a lease. When I go to the publishing section to try to add the episodes to my catalogue there's no option for adding a podcast. Now I have to reach out to them directly and attempt to get payment, which is what I thought beatstars publishing was meant for.
Thank you for reaching out with your feedback.
First, congratulations on discovering that your beat was used in a popular podcast! It’s fantastic to hear that you were able to identify this usage through our Beat ID feature.
Currently, podcasts do not fall under the song compositions category and are therefore not eligible to be registered through our publishing portal. However, as the composer of the beat, you retain all rights to derivative works, including usage in podcasts and similar formats.
Regarding license or contract agreements, we strongly recommend reaching out to the podcast owner to inform them that they will need to purchase a license from you for the rights to use your beat in their podcast.
If you need assistance in ensuring you are rightfully compensated for the use of your beat, please don’t hesitate to contact our Creator Rights Agency (CRA) team. You can learn more about how our CRA services can support you by visiting the link below:
