The system of bulk deals is horrible and needs change, a producer i work with a lot sold 3 beats for 120 dollars. 1 of them was a collab with me. He has a buy 2 get 1 free deal, but the collab beat got discounted from 60 to 0 meaning that i lose my $30.
I saw this exact issue on X in 2021 and way back in 2017 this was already an issue and it looks like beatstars is too lazy to come up with something better. Maybe it's the lack of developers, or it's because they don't care about the community that makes THEM money. I don't know.
Beatstars replies with "if you don't want collabs to be part of bulk deals you can exclude them when you upload" now this is a lazy response that really irritates me.
Why should i not deserve that 30? Nobody uses that feature because it's not logical to do, when you add a collaborater you expect them to get paid their share automatically.
A way better solution would be this:
if your beat is part of a bulk deal and was not the initial selling beat then you should get a percentage of what that beat would be. So let's says it's buy 1 get 2 free for $60/each that's $120. You would get $30 since your collab beat would've made $30
OR
Make it so solo beats get picked for the discount instead of the collaboration beats.
OR (worst alternative)
Automatically exclude collaboration beats from bulk deals.
Thank you again for your comments and suggestions. There is definitely a fine balance to find when it comes to transactions that involve collaboration splits and bulk deals. But we for sure hear you on this and we will consider making some changes where possible in the future. We may reach out to you to see what ideas you have in mind for alternative solutions.
